X-2204 "Brignoles" from Carnoules
The Centre Var Tourist Train services start from a "station" (which rather is a halte or a stop) at Carnoules-les-Platanes. There is no station building, in fact no building at all, except for an old stone building at the narrow road leading to the halte.
But between this building and the rails you find quite a few impressive trees, in French called platanes. Hence the name of the halte.
This day, as most days with low number of passengers, railcar X2204 - "Ville de Brignoles" - is at 15.00 hours ready for take-off at Carnoules-les-Platanes.
Further up, half way to the next station - Sainte Anastasie-sur-Issole - the train passes the combined bridge over a narrow road and the river Issole.
Out of the windows of the railcar there are some nice view of the surrounding landscape, with horses, olive groves and vinyards.
The train stops at Sainte Anastasie-sur-Issole station, where the Association has its souvenir shop. Also here trees (the platanes) provide a green ambiance of the station.
Further up the railway line we find this guy watching the railcars passing the Camps-la-Source station.
There are seven public unprotected level crossings between Carnoules-les-Platanes and Brignoles. Two members of the train crew need to descend at each of them to stop all road traffic to allow the railcar to traverse the crossing.
One crossing close to Brignoles is in fact two crossings, with two roads each leading to the same round-about.
At some occasions, passengers are invited to disembark at the ATTCV train depot in Besse. There they can take part in a short guided tour to the various railway heritage vehicles at depot. The last photo shows all four railcars in the Association's collection: X2204 (Ville de Brignoles), the two Caravelle railcars and (right-most) the Picasso.
