Interesting program for 2013
The timetable for the Train des Pignes steam train for season 2013 is now available. There will be trains every Sunday from May to October. Thematic trains will be run at five occasions.The season will start on Sunday 5 May, with a thematic steam train from Puget-Théniers at 10.55 to Le Fugeret (the first station uphill from Annot). The passengers can during the 1.5 h train stop visit the special market, where this day the village of Le Fugeret celebrates the "5éme Journées de la nature des traditions". Return to Puget-Théniers at 17.15.
All following Sundays, except 7 July (see below), will have the same timetable, i.e
- departure from Puget-Théniers at 10.55, arrival in Annot at 12.05 (with a stop in Entrevaux)
- return from Annot at 15.10, arrival in Puget-Théniers at 15.50 (with stop in Entrevaux)
Full steam at top of the line ...
The difference in altitude between Puget-Théniers (407 m above sea level) and Annot is a "mere" 300 m (which is certainly enough of a challenge to the loco crew, in particular the fireman!).But the train can reach higher altitudes: The highest up part of the Nice - Digne line is at an altitude of 1022 m, not far from the station Thorame (at 1012 m).
Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July will demonstrate this by introducing a new theme for the steam train, at high altitude:
"1ére Fête du Train - A toute vapeur"
with a morning and an afternoon return train between Saint André-les-Alpes and Thorame.
- the morning train will leave Saint André-les-Alpes at 10.40 and return at 12.30
- the afternoon train will leave Saint André-les-Alpes at 15.50 and return at 17.50
... and more themes ...
Saturday 2 November will see yet another excursion to Le Fugeret. This time for the "13éme Fête de la Châtaigne et des produits locaux", and with the same timetable as that of Sunday 5 May.In addition to the above thematic days, two scheduled trains will be arranged according to special themes
- Sundag 2 June - Train de la Belle Epoque
- Sunday 22 September - Train de la Libération
